In the spirit of Easter, the President and Founder of Mary Slessor-Akan Glo Foundation, Dr. Glory Edet has distributed gift items and financial support to multiple-birth parents and children drawn from across the eleven wards of Ini LGA.
Speaking at the event, which was held on Monday, April 21, at her Ikpe Ikot Nkon residence, Dr. Edet noted that the event was part of activities she had lined up to mark this year’s Easter celebration as she has been doing in other years by God’s grace. She acknowledged the grace of God and the ability given to the Foundation to touch lives in various ways. She appreciated God for the selfless life of the great Missionary who stopped the killing of multiple birth children and the banishment of their mothers; Mary Mitchell Slessor.
The former Dean of Commissioners and Special Advisers in Akwa Ibom State encouraged the multiple-birth parents to be grateful to God for the gift of their children, depend on Him while also engaging in small scale businesses and farming
Earlier in her welcome remarks, the Coordinator of MASLAG, Mrs. Jane Essien noted that the programme was to celebrate Easter with them and in line with the core objectives of the foundation ,which is aimed at promoting the legacies of Mary Slessor and touching the lives of those in need. She encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the support given to them.
Words of commendations were received from stakeholders of the area and beneficiaries of the various items distributed.
