MASLAG SENSITIZES ON THE NEED TO ALWAYS CARRY MULTIPLE BIRTH PARENTS AND CHILDREN ALONG

We are here to encourage you that multiple birth parents and children have equal rights just like single birth children- Dr. Glory Edet “



The people of Mbiabet Ikot Udo, in Ini LGA were all happy as they received the Mary Slessor- AkanGlo Foundation team led by the President and Founder, Dr. Glory Edet, who stormed the area on a sensitization visit on the need to always carry multiple birth parents along as they are blessings from God. The event which featured an avalanche of multiple-birth parents and children was held at Mbiabet Ikot Udo, Ini LGA. In her remarks, Dr. Glory Edet while reminding the People of the impacts of Mary Slessor in Ini , Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria, including how she stopped the killing of twins and other multiple children as well as the banishment of their mothers ,explained that the Foundation was established to further propagate the good deeds of Mary Slessor and assist multiple birth parents and children in need, widows, less-privileged , the aged, students and others where necessary. She added that the foundation will also embark on skills acquisition programmes and other live touching projects . "Irrespective of your beliefs and norms, please treat multiple-birth parents and children equally with others. Multiple-birth parents and children should be celebrated and not discriminated". The founder said. She further charged the multiple-birth parents and children to be always happy and be grateful to God who sent Mary Slessor to come and stop the killings of multiple children. She noted that they are special people in the sight of God. In her tone setting, the Coordinator of Mary Slessor Akan-Glo Foundation, Mrs. Jane Essien said, “We are here to appeal to all that children of multiple-birth have equal rights with others . That's the gospel of our great mother, Mary Slessor". She encouraged the people not to discriminate multiple-birth children, but embrace them and lend a helping hand where necessary In their separate Goodwill messages, Sir Mike Ebio, Mr. Udo Emmanuel Akpan, Mrs. Sarah, Chief Josaiah Udo Ekanem, Village Chairman, Mrs. Arit Samuel Umoh, Multiple-birth parent and Youth President of Mbiabet Ikot Udo, mr. Emmanuel Akpan. all appreciated Dr. Edet for her love for multiple-birth children and parents and the Foundation for the sensitization, enlightenment and support to the multiple birth parents and children. They assured her of their resolve to extend the message against discrimination of twins to the hinterlands. The event featured distribution of financial support to multiple-birth parents and children. The team noted the common problem in the area which is lack of good sources of drinking water as drilling of bore hole to to get water is not possible due to the terrain. This is a serious problem affecting most communities/villages in Ini LGA , including Ikpe Ikot Nkon, parts of Odoro Ikpe, Obotmme, etc. The Foundation appeals to donor agencies to assist in these areas. The Foundation also commends the State Government for establishing the Ministry of Water Resources which would also assist in some of these issues To God be the glory
