…as Dr. Edet charges beneficiaries on commitment to their businesses
In fulfilment of her promise to the women of Uyo Senatorial District Women’s Forum, the President and Founder of Mary Slessor-Akan Glo Foundation – MASLAG, Dr. Glory Edet, has empowered selected women across Uyo Senatorial District with sewing machines and others with financial support, to boost their businesses.
Speaking at the event which was held at Kings and Queens Hall, Ewet Housing Estate, on Friday, October 25, Dr. Glory Edet, while giving a brief history of Mary Slessor and her selfless sacrifices to humanity, noted that the foundation was borne out of passion and empathy to immortalize the legacies of Mary Slessor and give back to the society.
Dr. Edet charged the beneficiaries to be passionate about their skills and make good use of the empowerment items given to them and also informed them that the monitoring and evaluation team of the Foundation will be visiting them unannounced to see how they make good use of the given items.
Dr. Glory Edet also encouraged the women to continue with their support for the administration of Governor Umo Eno.
The Coordinator of MASLAG, Mrs. Jane Michael Essien, while listing the numerous achievements of the foundation since its inception, charged the beneficiaries to make good use of the empowerment items given to them and informed them that the foundation will keep an eye on them to inspect their level of progress.
Also speaking, the President, Uyo Senatorial District Women’s Forum, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Ekaette Ebong lauded the impact of Dr. Glory Edet as well as that of Mary Slessor-Akan Glo Foundation for the numerous lives she has touched. While also charging the beneficiaries to make good use of the empowerment items given to them, she prayed for God to bless and strengthen the foundation.
The wife of the Secretary to Government of Akwa Ibom State who is also the Secretary of the forum, Dr. (Mr.) Inemesit Enobong Uwa appreciated Mary Slessor-Akan Glo Foundation for their commitment to serve humanity. She also appealed to the beneficiaries to make good use of the items and the financial support.
A beneficiary of the empowerment who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries, Mrs. Angela Moses, thanked the founder of MASLAG for providing them with quality equipments to improve their level of productivity. She assured that the items given will be used judiciously.
Also present were Members of LEWA, Members of WALGON, Councillors, Party Executives and other women Stakeholders.
